Our group Teen Body Positivity session is a great activity for a group of 2-4 friends. It takes place in our Style Studio inside the Crossroads Center Mall in St. Cloud. Each teen will be measured by Sadra and they will each learn what their shape is and how to choose clothing that best works with that shape. A group discussion of how each is different and great in their own way. The group will leave with an understanding that their shapes may be different and how to help each other choose clothing that is best for them. 45 min. session.
In this session, the teen will meet with Sadra, our personal stylist in our Best Me 360 style studio inside the Crossroads Center Mall in St. Cloud. Sadra will take a few measurements to determine their basic body shape. She will explain the best types of clothing to wear for that shape. The goal is to find clothing that flatters the shape, is comfortable, and gives the teen confidence in how they look. The personal stylist will then shop with them for 30 minutes showing them how to select clothing that is best for their body shape. What to wear and what to avoid. 45-min session
The fact of feeling good about your body and the way it looks: Body positivity is rooted in loving your body and gaining self-confidence. Body positivity is a great starting point for many people on the way to deeper self-acceptance.
Eating disorders can start as young as 12 years old. Being a teen is a time when their body is changing from a child body to a young adult body and many may find it very frustrating to not look like their friends. Puberty can bring weight fluctuations and major height differences among a peer group can sometimes make a teen feel self-conscious and like they don't fit in or are not accepted by their friends. This can lead to isolation, depression, and lack of self-confidence. Or, more dangerously, it may lead them to make friends they don't really want just to fit into a group of peers. Confidence and high self-esteem will help a teen make good choices when it comes to friends and peer pressure.
Feeling accepted is a basic human need. When teens have different body shapes than their friends, they may struggle with clothing. They find that they do not look like their friends when they wear the same types of clothing.

As a teenager, I didn't have a mom show me how to do makeup, explain how the tools work, or what colors would look good on me. Now as a mom myself, I want young women to understand that makeup is meant for you and only you. Its not to impress others. I want you to know what your best features are, what colors make you shine, and leave you with the confidence to replicate it."
